What kind of strings does a Godin Freeway 5 bass use?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

I've recently acquired a Godin Freeway 5 with a "string-thru body bridge". I am think of replacing the strings since they are getting a bit old, but I'd like to stay with the same type of strings that they shipped the bass with. I can't seem to find a store on the internet that carries Godin brand strings. After some research, I found many suggested that Godin uses D'addario XL. But, which one, is it EXL170-5 or EXL170-5SL? They have different tensions, I'd like to use the one that's a exect fit to my bass. Thank you all!!!

Since the Freeway 5 is a regular 34" scale bass, you shouldn't need the SL strings. Your best bet would be to email Godin to find out for sure.
