Elixers here, super punchy and retains a fairly bright tone.

If you like it on the Schecter you might like it on the Jazz, they are good strings.

I know Elixir's are nice, but I can't justify spending $30+ on coated strings when I can buy Rotosounds for $20, and they last a LONG time.

Rotosounds have a lot of punch and growl, and they're really responsive to the nuances of your hands.

I just ordered some faulty DR Black Beauties (The Low B was peeling and it came unwound when stringing up) that are on there way for return. I didn't like the roughness of them...

Lakland Joe Osborn flats.

I love the sound of a J Bass with flats.

D'addario nickel XL's. Great string for a great price. The treble is there but they also have a nice warm bottom end.

I get DR Lo Riders stainless steel usually for a jazz bass.. Nice and punchy with plenty of growly low end but you still get that bright stainless steel twang that just sounds so sweet through jazz pickups..

I actually like the tone of Dean Markley Blue Steels a little better but they have a bunch of problems - 1) Cost a good bit more than Lo Riders 2) Hard for me to find locally 3) tear up my fingers (probably my frets too) and 4) they aren't long enough to string through body on a 35" bass.

I've been using TI jazz flats for the last few weeks. Like them a lot so far.

I put a set of Slinkys on mine that were just lying around, and they sound pretty darn good - growly and balanced. I also really like nickel Lo-Riders.

I gotta say, I'm really digging the Fender strings. Just ordered a bunch more. They really are very good, and I'm a die hard DR fan. Pretty cheap, too.

I have a squier jazz, but I use Dean Malarkey Blue steels. They have a clear and defined tone (piano like) and it's very easy to get a good growl sound out of them. If you turn down the tone, there very deep and smooth, and very well defined and precise. They also feel the best out of any string to me.
