What length?

Hi, I'm a return bassist (haven't picked mine up for over 20years).
Just need a little advice really.
I own a Vox Custom Bass (24 Fret, 4 string, and early an 80's model) and I can't remember what scale of strings I used to use?
Was it long or extra long?
..coz I think by now they need replacement

While I here, any quick recommends of gauge for 70/30% funk/finger style, and/or indeed manufacturer?
..coz I'm sure that since I played there's a few more on the market (I used to use Rotosound).

Is your bass 34" scale? String-through-the-body or top-mount? I tend to like stainless Ken Smith or DR strings in a light-ish gauge(100-80-60-40 or so). Rotos are also nice- some complain that hey are harsh on their hands, but that's not been my experience. BTW, welcome back.

Yes, 34" from Bridge to Nut, and string thread through rear of body, over Bridge etc..

34" strung top-loaded via bridge is Long Scale.

Since it is through the body, you'll probably need Super Long Scale strings. Standard DRs should fit without problems.
