Most roundwounds, nickelplated or SS, have hex cores. That's used in a majority of cases. It's safe to assume that unless the string description actually mentions a round core that it is a hexcore.

DR makes round core roundwounds. Sunbeams are nickle roundwounds on a round core, and Hi-Beams are a stainless steel roundwound on a round core. I think R Cocco are roune core too.

D'Addario uses hex core exclusively so their strings and any they make for others are hex core. They make (or at least used to make) D'Angelico, Ernie Ball, and Pedulla.

Anyone whose ad copy specifically states it for that model of string. Besides a couple of the DR models there are some Dean Markleys (I think they are Rocco sigs), and others I forget since I'm more into hex. I just mentioned what I said earlier, because to ferret them out you merely need to look at the specs which will always specifically MENTION that the less-common round core is a feature.

Really? I had no idea. I was under the assumption that most bass strings were round core. I guess I've learned something yet again.
