What rounds on your Stingray 5?
I have always thought that EB basses truly sounded the best with EB strings but I have been trying to find the right strings for my 95 SR5. I have a set of DR Sunbeams on it now. They sounded great when I put them on but they have sounded dead and lifeless since the third gig with them. I keep trying to give them more time... I am thinking I need to try Hi Beams on it to get the zing I am looking for. Just curious what others are using on their SR5's.

I have used several. Loved Sunbeams for a warm tone. I had stainless lowriders at one point and I remember those being killer.

I don't have a EBMM 'Ray..instead I have a SBMM Ray 35. Anyways..
I'm using DR hi-beams. Loving em! I like zing as well, and have used DR ss lo-riders for 6 months up until recently. They sounded great, but were a tad too stiff. The Hi-beams sound better to my ears, especially through a GK MB Fusion.

On a whim, I put an old unopened set of Ken Smith stainless light strings on my SR5. http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Ken...-Set_p_18.html
The 40-120 set is great. Bright, long lasting, flexible. I was very surprised at how well they worked.
I understand that the GHS Stainless strings are the same as the Smiths, so they would be my recommendation, too.

I was a a DR or nothing guy for many years, that was until I tried Dunlop nickels at 1/2 the price. I love them. I'm not entirely sure, but I think I read somewhere that a DR guy went to Dunlop to do their strings, don't quote me on that.
