What are the signs that a set of strings is worn out? I was looking through used basses at a guitar shop and I don't know if the bass sounds weak because of the bass itself or because the strings are worn out.
For one, the strings lose their sustain. I broke a G once and replaced it with an old one, a month later it created more of a dull thud then a full note.
