What are the smallest guage flats available?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been slowly lowering my string gauge, I am at .033-.088 on my Jazz bass and loving it!!

I just got a 74 p-bass and it sounds really good with an old set of Chromes I had lying around but they feel HUGE under my fingers, switching back and forth during a gig is really weird with the two very different feels.

Are there any really light flatwound sets out there?

You know, I played a set of used TI Flats and honestly did not like the feel on my fingers, they seemed too "mushy" for lack of a better term. Maybe a new set will feel better?

They feel floppy to me also. However, if you are looking for "really light flatwound sets", then TI's are what instantly spring to mind. They set the standard for light flatwound set.

in terms of gauge, TIs are more like medium lights - the OP is trying to go lighter than that

Call them whatever you want, but TI's are floppier than medium light gauge D'Addario XL's.
