What Stings to bring out the mids?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for the type (nickel, stainless, flats, etc.) and brand name of strings that really emphasis the mids (low & high)? They'll be going on a Moses' necked custom that's really lacking in that area.

Thanks,
Kris

I really like the SIT Rock Bright Nickels. The bass I play the most is my MusicMan Stingray 5. I keep it in single coil mode for kind of a Jazz Bass sound.
I like these strings better than anything on the market and I've tried just about all of them.
You can hear a sample of the SIT strings with my StingRay on my site www.jeffleebass.com. It's the 7th song down-Mr PC (Alt Take).
Most of the tunes on my site are old with me playing my Ken Smith.
But, the SIT Rock Brights Nickel sound great, feel great and last a long time.
I ordered a set at www.juststrings.com on a wim because I've tried just about every set. They're cheap too. Haven't tried the Stainless Steel sets. But, I did try the SIT Power Cores which have the contact core over the bridge. They're good too.

That's the tone I'm looking for and some great playing too. I'll be placing an order very shortly.

Mr PC (Alt Take) and Balloon Knot were with my StingRay 5, the rest were recorded with my Ken Smith 5. Probably using D'Addario.
Again, those are rough demo stuff recorded last year live using Sonar 5 and a Presonus Firepod Interface.
I have no affiliation with SIT, but I truly love these strings. The Rock Bright Nickels. They cut through the mix well and last longer than D'Addarios and Ernie Ball.
Good Luck. SIT makes a lot of different strings, if the Rock Brights don't fit your needs, try another set from them.

I'm loving TI Jazz Flats on my fretless P-bass and active fiver, and I've heard very good comments on their Jazz Rounds as well.

I really didnt like the set of SIT nickels I tried.

I also have an SR5 and the best growl I have ever achieved was by using stainless steel dean Markley Blue Steels Mediums(50-128). They actually get better with age, are bright and snappy but growl like no tomorrow.

I thought the opposite with Blue Steels. Once they started to die, they got really muddy sounding.
I did however liked the Dean Markley Blue Steel Nickels.

Thanks, for all the suggestions so far and I took the plunge on the SIT's if they don't work out I'll look into the Labella's hard rocking steel's.

This is what I love about my favorite strings, Fender Nickel-plated steel roundwound "Super Bass" strings and Fender Nylon Tapewound strings. I use LaBella Deep Talkin' tapes for more than 4-string basses since the Fender ones only come in 4 string sets.
