Daft Punk is an electro band, meaning bass sounds are probably sampled off of a computer program. A synth pedal would get you further than a set of strings would.

Strings are a final tweak to the sound. The pups and body wood and construction all have more effect on the sound imo. For daft punk bass Id suggest useing a synthesizer such as nord lead 2, Novation ks4 or supernova, Access Virus KB, or other VA synth.
