What strings for 35" scale length 5-string?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys!

I'm about to order a Traben Chaos Core 5-string (black wash finish, rosewood fretboard) bass! Yah!

But I'm new to 35"-scale basses and 5-strings, so here's my question: do I need to take the 35"-scale into consideration when buying strings, or will any set of strings made for standard (long scale) do?

My local store has some Daddarios EXL170 (.045-.130), DR Black Beauties BKB545 (.045-.125) and Dean Markley Will Lee SR2000 (.47-.127).

Cheers
Jay

I've been using DR stainless steel roundwound High Beams since they came out on all of my 35" scale 5 strings (and 34" scale 4 strings as well) with no issues. They last a very long time and feel and sound great IME and IMO.

I've been getting my strings from newtone strings for a while now.
They make me what I need , they do it very well, are excellent to deal with and charge fair prices.
My bass is 36",strung through the body.

And they'll make you what you need.

+1 High Beams are the only SS round that I use. They are more then long enough for any 35" scale bass.
