What strings on this bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
So after a long bout with the customer service with a certain music company, I have a replacement acoustic bass with non-rusty strings. That is really beside the point though: the real point I'm getting at is I have no idea what strings are on it. The first bass I had had some bronze strings on it, but this replacement has what appear to be stainless. I'm guessing they put new ones on it because I complained about the strings on the original bass. I was wondering if anyone wanted to take a crack at what kind of strings they are.

The strings have no silk (that I can see), appear to be stainless and came on my Dean Playmate EAB Acoustic Electric bass. I know this isn't a lot of info to go with and I apologize for that. Anyone have any ideas, or questions?

No expert myself. Are they smooth feeling with a low, deepish tone. Possibly flatwounds. Mostly used on P basses. I'm sure if i'm wrong somebody will tell me.

If they're the stock strings that come on a Dean Playmate... crappy ones.

I received one of these basses as a Christmas gift. Great bass, but the very next day I went out and purchased new strings.

There are a few threads floating around about these basses and the string choices people have made for them. I personally had Martin bronze strings on for the longest time. I've since switched to La Bella black tapewounds, but it seems that the tension on these is starting to play havoc with the bass (the bridge seems to be slightly lifting, thus pulling on the top of the bass). So I might give the (supposedly nice but definitely expensive) Thomastik Acousticore bronze ones a try.

Good luck with the search!

Sorry, forgot to mention they are roundwounds. My bad.

They aren't the stock ones, the stock ones that came on the first one (that I sent back) were bronze. These strings seem to be stainless. Thanks for the replies
