What strings for bass with growly mids (Ibanez SR3005)

Sign in to disble this ad
I think I recently made a mistake, stringing my Ibanez SR3005 with DR Nickel Lo-Riders. These strings have pronounced mids and this with basic growly wood sound there's just too much mids (hi-mids?) and not enough bass. All in all, it sounds very dry now. EQ helps, but I would rather have it right with everything on flat.

When I got it, it was strung with cheap steel Warwick Red Labels and I liked that sound a lot more (although they were pretty rough). Now, I would like you to recommend me strings that would give me bigger bottom, maintaining natural mids this bass has. (I'm aiming at the modern sound)

FYI:
Neck is Wenge/Bubinga with Wenge fretboard
Body is mahagony
Pickups are Ibanez, not Bartolini

Thanks!

I have loriders in nickel and stainless and found that I needed to give them a few weeks to break in. The strings settled in and had more low mids to them after that period.
I have just ordered a set of Dunlop nickel over steel to try out because of some of the rave reviews on the string forum. I am looking to add more bottom to a very bright bass that has Lorider stainless on it,

Once broken in, GHS Boomers have lots and lots of lows.

A little update

D'Addario Super Steels 45-135 - great, great, great!! With everything set flat, I got exactly what I was looking for in my first post.

Did not like DR's at all when I tried them a couple times, sound was just bleh to me. Daddario's to me are ok but rather crunch diminishing to my ears. Does like GHS boomers, Rotosounds, and Ernie Balls.
