So far I've only had to buy strings twice and they were ernie ball super slinky's and a set of dr strings i got off a friend. Well my dr's are dead now and I'm looking for new strings but like I said I haven't had to buy strings much before so I don't know what all the different types/brands of strings sound like. I would like some nice warm sounding strings, and I guess I just asking people to suggest some strings for me to try.
Thanks,
Nathan

| | | | I would recommend nickel round wounds like D'Addaro XL's or DR Sunbeams. Smooth on the fingers, fairly even frequency response, and fairly warm. If you want a stiffer string feel or a better low b than you find you get with a string that has a round inner core, try the DR Nickel Lo Rider that has a hex core. |

He says he wants something warmer but he was using rounds looks like to me. Would flats be too extreme, maybe nickels for a start?? Just asking cause I just recieved my 2 sets from Lakand 1 SS, 1 Nickels. My 55-01 came with SS's on it and I am about to make my first string change on it. I wanted to try the nickels cause those SS really seem to trash my finger tips but this bass is used in a funk as in slap, pull, pop style old school band. I want to try the nicks but dont want to loose that funk tone, should I just stick with the SS on the 55-01(?). I was then going to put the nickles on my Cirrus, those Fodera Diamond SS are murder on my fingers too, sound kinda nice though. Sign me, no finger prints. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
