What strings came on my SX?

It's a 62-SJB or whatever and it came with these D'addario's with red tapering. I can't really tell of nickle cuz they feel sorta steely.

edit

are they chromes?

Chromes are flatwound. My drummer's SX came with the same strings. I was expecting throwaway garbage strings, but these are really nice!

I'm having weak E + G problems and it seems to be missing a little warmth but they aren't bad. Can be clanky too.

edit

I'm assuming they are 50-105 right?

They are pretty light guage and many people have said they are junk, but I have had the original strings on my SX for a couple of years (too lazy to change them). They are a bit thin sounding and there is some clankiness to them but overall they have a pretty good sound. I just ordered a new set of heavier guage strings tonight since I've had the originals off a few times and the tuner ends are starting to look a little weak. My SX gets subjected to a lot of temperature extremes and I think that is contributing to killing the strings.

The main reason I ordered new strings is that I recently installed a P pickup in the neck position of my SX Jazz and I want to get more of an old-school sound out of the bass.

The set I ordered is .050 - .105 so I can compare them to the originals when they arrive, but I think the SX strings are the thinnest I have ever played on. Maybe Kurt at Rondo could tell you what the guages are.

I just replaced them and it's obvious they were thinner.

edit

believe it or not I think I kinda like the sound of the chromes, they are very smooth and rich and kindy zingy. I may order a 55-110 set of em. I put some nickles and and they seemed to have lost a lot of the jazz flavor and seem a bit boomy now actually.

edit

only problem with them i had was the weak e+g string, gonna have to find a way to remedy that.
