Yes it will I'm afraid. I used to do that but anything harder than a stroke with a feather wil cause the string to clatter on the neck. An option is to restring it to BEAD using a five string set and losing the G. (or using a fivestring bass ofcourse ;-)) I am using a Galia 120 set and I am real satisfied with that at the moment.

(edit becuz i cant speel)

GHS Boomers in Heavy will do the job as a stock set of strings. These are nickel plated steel, and midway between SS and NIK for tone. Price is very reasonable.

I used these strings for a client's bass (www.aroarah.com) which is permanently drop tuned to C#. I set standard relief and action height, and Chelsea is quite happy with the results. She plays hell out of that bass with no buzz. She is normally a DR LowRider Nickel fan, and she's OK with the Boomers.

+1 for GHS Boomers in Heavy, and Permanent C# tuning! Especially fun at 35"s!
