not exactly a custom shop jazz bass..but a regular jazz bass

anyways I've tried

Ernie Ball Extra Slinky 40-95 played for about 2 months... the strings are way soft.. good bright slap tone

Fender 7250ML 45-100 the stock strings... warm sounding...

D'Addario Chromes 40-100 my favorite.. flats with present highs and mids... they gave my jazz a good growl..

GHS Precision 45-105 my current set... seems to be missing a bit of high end but i like the low end thump..

I have 50-105 Chromes on my CS Jazz. Great strings. I have a set of Labella flats on a P-Bass that I may try on the Jazz. I'm a flats convert, can't seem to go back to rounds now.

cheers!

i have a 64 NOS reissue from a few years back. plays/sounds well with all strings i've tried. my favorites on it are rotosound black nylons and DR high beam 110-50, which is how i have it now. the high beams give it a good treble that you can roll off if you need; the heavier gauge gives it some good girth.

+1 for DR Hi-Beams.

For me they are THE jazz-bass string set. For the record I don't have a CS jazz but I've had many jazz basses along the years.
