What strings fit a Ritter Roya 6?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a Ritter Roya 6. It was a winter NAMM 2009 bass, so it was dressed up with black, coated Aurora-brand strings.

The black color looks great, but that's where it ends. String feel is terrible, and they don't sound that good. I thought restringing would be easy: wrong!

Tried a Dingwall 6 set, but the D string was way too short, half of the "tuner" end was within the first fret when strung. Very sad , I LOVE Dingwall strings on other basses (besides my Dingwall). They have great string-to-string balance, feel great, low tension, and have great growl and high output.

Installed an MTD set that BARELY fit, but man I hate MTD strings! To me, they always feel really rough, tight, and just DIRTY. Do not like!

I think the problem is that even though my bass has a 35" scale, there's quite a bit of string length lost between the bridge and the string anchor, and quite a bit more lost between the nut and the tuners.

What strings--besides Ritter Swordsteels, which I have on order-- are you Ritter players using on your beauties? I play with a light touch, like very low action and low action: what works with these basses?

All suggestions/recommendations appreciated. Strings are way too expensive to buy and find they don't fit.

Thanks guys 'n' gals!
