What strings do you use on your G&L and why? Please write the body and fingerboard wood!

Why? Because they sound the best (to me) out of all the other strings I've tried on that bass. |

Tried quite a few brands over the years, and always come back to the highbeams. I play mostly rock, sometimes heavier stuff, and sometimes some funky slap style, but these strings seem to work for all genres. The L-2500 can be very aggressive sounding (good thing here), and these are the strings that will take you there. Big low end with a nice creamy top, no harsh zingy treble as with other brands I tried. I also tried nickels of other brands which also sounded good, but IME nickels seem to take away some of the attack and unique L-2500 tone that i like.
Also, IMO the Highbeams have just the right amount of tension for the B string too. DR lowriders (stainless steel -hex core)would be my second choice, but just a little too much tension for me. |

DR HiBeams have become MY strings. They sound great and last a long time. |
