What strings keep it's new "Zing" Sound?

Hey guys.

I love a bright tone, but i also like the zingy tone that brand new strings have. I currently use overwater stainless steel strings and Rotosound R66 30-90 gauge.

I like loose tension and i love light gauges.

The closest i have come to for keeping the zing are Rotosound Funkmasters, But even thats thats not long enough.

Suggestions?

I've had good luck with DR Black Beauties but YMMV.

Elixirs and SIT Rock Bright Stainless. Tension is rather subjective, but they will both last a long time.

If you wipe down your fretboard with a cloth after every use it will help dramatically. Also, if they sound dead or getting to that point - Stick them in a jar of DeNatured Alcohol for a day or two, take em out dry em and pop em back on and they sound brand new every time. It will help you to get 4-6 months out of your strings.

i been using SIT powerwounds and they stay bright for a good amount of time!

now ive switched to SIT rock brights stainless cos i heard they are even brighter. and that stainless is brighter than nickel.
feel is bit stiffer but i dont think thats an issue for me as long as i like the sound

I ocassionally boil my rounds in water. Tie all the strings together in a circle, then dip in boiling water for a minute or two. Try to keep the silk dry. Put them back on and they sound brand new. Or wipe them with a rag and alcohol - not quite as effective as boiling but much quicker.

See the other post going now about denatured alcohol. It DOES work and it works much better than boiling.
