I really like Fodera Diamonds. I don't use them because of the "Fodera" name. I use them because they really sound and feel good. They last pretty long too.

I just got a 55-94 and threw on some extra long DR high beams, so far so good! If you're used a to 34" scale bass you might want to go with a slightly ligher or more flexible string on the 35" 55-02.

I've got a 55-01 and I use Elixr Nanoweb 4 string longs and a single XL B string. If you get a set of 5 string longs, the B winding doesn't make it past the nut. Just my 2 cents....

lakland strings..

I was about to order some DR's for my 55-01 though not sure what to expect, did read some good things here bout em. Then someone posed the question "if you liked the strings that came with the new 55-01 why not order some more, I thought it was a good point, so I called Lakland. Brian took my order over the phone, he said the 55-01 from factory has the med lite, SS. I also ordered a set of nickels to try em out. This is my first string change on the 55-01 and I am thinking I'd like to try the nickels on it. What could I expect from nickels, hopefully easier on the finger tips for starters, anything tonally? Oh I put some Fodera SS Diamonds on my Cirrus 6, sound OK but man my finger tips take a beating. So I am now thinking of puttin those Lakland nickels on the Cirrus, Hmm(?) and putting the new SS onto the 55-01.
later, ernie.

Are you inquiring about what strings fit on 55-02s's, or what strings sound good on 55-02s?

On my 55-02, I've tried TIs, DR Hi-Beams, Ernie Ball slinkies, Sadowsky Nickels, and DR Black Beauties. They've all fit, but, then again, I don't usually string-through as I find the difference in tone/feel to be trivial

I just put a set of SIT NR545125XL's on my 55-01 and am throughly impressed by them! They are the biggest bang for the buck strings I've encountered in my years of playing at about $19/set..
