What strings for my G&L L2500 Tribute?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a set of strings for my G&L L2500. The bass is naturally bright and I want to tone that down without mud. I'd like a smoother feel. I want articulate. I want a tight and clear B. I'd like a balanced set of strings. I want great bass fundamentals.

Any suggestions?

Strings for G&L

I've had good luck with Carvin strings on my L2000 Leo sig. and my L2500 Custom . Great price , too .

I'm headed for DR's for my G&L. Mainly because of the length. I've had DR strings one time and they feel pretty good, the tension is nice. The main reason is the length. EB Slinky and D'a tappered ends sit on the nut on the B and E strings killing them.

I had thought about DR Lo Rider Nickel's because I want a warmer sound. I also like the hex core because they should be tighter and I want a tight B-string. How's the B with round core strings?

Are the DR's longer before the silk?

Do you have Sunbeams on an L2500 or L2000? I'm thinking about nickel Lo Riders because of a warmer sound and the hex core.

Get the super long D'addarios and they'll fit. That's what I use on my L1505.

The regular XLs will do in a pinch, but you have to string the B and E through the bridge. Works fine though.
