It's a lot more than just strings...

I'm fully aware. I have a Mesa D-180 and an '82 Ampeg V4B on it's way. Cab is a NV610. Getting pretty close to the tone, just wondering if strings would help to lock me closer to that resonating deep growl when playing with a pick.

It doesn't matter what he uses-you'll have bigtime vicious tone, if you use some La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels. Period.

The first six words of songwriter's post were correct, the rest is not. Or it may actually be true. Who knows? But the point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't matter at all what someone else uses...you will not sound like that person based on equipment. If you use all the same stuff yet don't play anything like the dude, it's all useless. I hear newbies complain about that all the time..."I have all the same stuff...why don't I sound like (insert name here)?" Because it has nothing to do with equipment!!!!
