My 4-94 arrived a few days ago. Awesome bass. I wasn't really digging the stock strings, I guess they were Lakland Stainless Steels, so I threw on a set of Hybrid Slinkys, which I generally like. The Laklands were a little too mellow for me. The Slinkys sound good, but a little too harsh on the Lakland. What kind of strings do you put on your 4-94, for rock? Thanks.

I got the Elixers as a trial, and I'll probably go back to either DR Hi-Beams or the Lakland stainless on that bass. Did the original strings have grey silk on them or red? If they were red, they were the Lakland nickles, which are GHS Boomers. If the silks were grey/silver they were indeed the stainless.

jte | They were the grey silks. I didn't particularly like GHS strings when I've used them in the past, so I guess they're just not my thing.

I can imagine some good SS strings will give it some sizzle.
