what are tapewound strings?

I just bought a bass and it has labella deep talkin bass tapewound strings...are they rounds or flats?

Neither. They are sometimes flats and sometimes rounds (depends on the brand) that are wrapped in nylon tape.

I love them for a smooth feel and a smooth sound.

I think the LaBellas are flats with tape.

I'm pretty sure LaBellas are rounds, the only flats with black tape I can think of right off are Rotosounds.
