What to use for high F string???
I am re-stringing my Warwick Rockbass Alien Deluxe 6-string ABG for E-F tuning. So like a 7-string without the low B.
Does anybody have suggestions for what string options there are for the high F? I prefer them to not be too sticky on the fingers. But maybe the only option is plain steel 18-20 by any number of makers.
Other than that I'll be trying different sets for the EADGC.
Thanks for your help.
You could try a thinner plain like .017 or .016, the lower tension will blend the tone and volume better with the lower strings. If you can find strings long enough you can use guitar plain steel with an old detached bass ball end threaded onto it so it fits the bridge. I find Rotosound plains just long enough for the 1 or 2 tuner posts closest to the nut.
Are your lower strings steel or bronze?
Hey thanks, man. I will not stay with bronze. Don't like the sticky black fingers nor the string noise. Same really goes w steel. So I am researching various nickel plated half round or ground wound to be smoother feeling, sounding, but still have some highs. If that fails, I may give in and go TI Flats which I know will sound good even though I wasn't really going for the flat sound.
