Really? Would you also like to hear my favorite variety of Del Monte canned tomatoes?

If you're going to have such an obtuse poll, at least have all the options available.

First of all if you are not interested in this thread please just move on. I find it interesting people have to make negative comments about a thread that they are not required to participate in.

The reason I stated this thread was because I was told by someone at D'addario the the 170's way out sell the other string gauges they sell. I wanted to see if the poll would mirror this information.

The four gauges you posted are the most popular of the XL's. So much so, D'Addario sells Two Packs for those gauges for further savings.

I think the 165's .045 .065 .085 .105 are the more popular gauge in general especially in B&M Retail stores... hard to find anything else at your local B&M.

There is a "Large B&M" near my place, I go in to occasionally look around. I have more bass strings of one brand on my shelves than they have variety of guitar strings. And as far as bass string sets... VERY limited quantity and no variety... Its 45-105 in Nickel or bust it seems...

The great thing about bass strings is you could get exactly what YOU want, and what feels best for YOU.

They also offer strings in singles to create your own custom sets to your own specific gauges.

I don't think the poll is out of the question, but is not specific enough to provide the best information. One gauge will be better than another to some people depending on the scale length of the instrument etc...

Its more about gauge then scale length. I would think the 45-105 scale would be more popular myself. I was told otherwise and wanted to see the out come here for my self.

You will find that a lot of folks have nothing better to
do than complain. Sort of reminds me of my late wife.
Bs & Ts if you ask me.

I like the 170's hands down. But that's not my favorite
string. I think Ernie Balls are as good as D'addario. That's
why I quit buying them.

The 105 thumps too much.

Depending on the type of playing I am doing... 35-95 or 45-105

And including myself as a working 6 string bassist:
28/40/55/70/90/120 D'Addario single string set on a 35" scale. LOW tension!! And I hear a higher harmonic content to each note as well. .02 for your consideration.
Oh, yeah. I like my tomatoes DICED.
Thanks

If I'm buying D'Addarios, I make a custom set: .145 - .105 - .075 - .055 - .040 - .028 - .020

EDIT: Also, I'm a whole tomato kind of guy.

Now if only they offered all of those in steels (unless the guitar .028 will fit a bass, then nevermind)!

As an aside, I ordered the BEAD strings from that set (upped the gauge on the A and D strings) from you recently, and I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the selection, price, shipping speed, and communication on my order. From now on, any time I need to order some DA Pro Steels, I'm definitely coming to you. Thanks again!

I just put a set of the ultra lights on a project bass (GHS's) to break in the new neck easy and I am loving playing them. I usually use 45-100's or 105's but these light ones are so responsive to touch...I'm lovin it.
