What is your favorite string gauge?
Mine is 45 - 105. I've played 45 - 100 for some time but 45 - 105 are much better to me, there is less fret buzz. I use it for slap, fingerstyle and other techniques. Recently I'm playing d'addario nickel plated steels

Warning: This is for 4 string basses. If you play bass with more strings then select the gauge from your E to G strings.

Arrow Guage,

I favor 45,65,80,100's. I had a set of 50-105's + a 135 B string on my SRX 655 five string, but I went back to Nickels 45-100's + 130 B string on my 5's, and 45-100's Flats on my 4. All with D'Addario's on them.

40, 45, 60, 80 Ernie Ball Stainless Steel for my 4 string.
23, 32, 45, 65, 80, 100 Ernie Ball Nickel Slinky's for my 6 string fretless.

I love the really light gauges. I'm still figureing out how much lighter I can go with my 4 string and still have a workable tremolo.

40 - 95

I WOULD use the 35-95 if my local stores carried them. I can never bend the G quite as well as the other strings, anything past a half-step takes some effort.

And if your wondering why I would want to bend a lot, I'm a big David Gilmour fan.

But I just put some D'Addario XL's on and they're, 45-65-80-100-130. Can't tell much of a difference so i'll probably just stick with em.

Currently, I'm rocking Power Slinkys 55-110. I really love the high tension.

If you like high tension you should try SIT rock bright steel strings.

How could there be no fret buzz?If you mean there is less fret buzz with heavier gauge thats different of course.

BTW I use .45-.100 Dr Hi-beams.May try .105 next time.

45-100 generally but it really depends on the bass I'm playing.

45-100 here also. I've tried various gauges (45-105, 40-95, 50-110, in-betweens) and 45-100 has always felt "right" for me. Anything less is too thin/light. Anything more is too thick/heavy. Like the baby bear, 45, 65, 80, 100 is just right.
