ok, so i was talkin to a fellow bassist a while back about basses with really thin necks. he thought thin necks are great, but he told me that putting flatwounds on it might bend the neck a lot, and make it to where i might be readjusting the truss rod an awfull lot. is that true?

so much misinformation out there, its insane to make such statements, it depends on the specific neck , and specific string

If you're changing string tension, then yes you will have to make some adjustments to get the same action you have now. beyond that, you should only need the same normal seasonal adjustments.

Many flats have no more tension than similar gauge rounds.

Many thin necks are more stable or stiffer than thick ones.

Truss rods are there for a reason, to adjust the neck for different tensioned strings and changes in humidity.

I would be careful myself about putting a set of huge tight flats on a thin necked bass, nut I would base it on a bass by bass basis. Basically.
