What's a good set of strings and gauge to recommend for Fender Jazz Bass?

I have a Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass and have been trying out different sets of strings, was wondering what most people put on their jazz basses and the gauge as well.

Btw, does the neck have to be adjusted when changing string gauges?

When using different string gauges you'll definitely have to adjust the neck because of the difference in string tension. Even different brands can force you to make that kind of change even in the same gauge.

What kind of strings have you tried so far and what do you like and/or don't like about them?

I use two J's as my main gigging/recordings basses. They both are strung with DR Lowrider nickles 45-105. This is because these work FOR ME. These may not be to everyones taste (though heaven knows why not!)

I'm using GHS Pressure Wounds in a Light Medium Guage and I'm very impressed with the way they make the bass come alive tonally. DR Low Riders are also a good choice.

You don't really say what you're looking for tonally or whether you want rounds, flats or something in between. If you're more specific about what you want to sound like I'm sure a lot of guys here will chime in with info.

Whether or not the neck will need an adjustment depends on what you end up putting on as opposed to what's on it now. The best answer is that yeah you'll probably need to tweak it a bit.
