What's the Longest You've Kept Strings?

Just curious what the longest amount of time you've left one set of strings on your bass is.

~In Loving Memory of my very first pack of S.I.T. strings. Played well, and withstood daily abuse. Finally snapped from the pressure this afternoon.~

December 2008 - June 2010

I have a set of flats on a bass I rarely play that are going on ten or eleven years. I don't see changing them any time soon. I've considered putting some tapewounds on it, but I can't justify paying for a set (and possibly a new set of flats if I don't like the tapewounds) until I start playing that bass more frequently.

18 years. A set of Maxima Gold strings that I put on my Fender Precision Elite II back in 1992. I don't play it that often now. I play My five string and other newer Fender basses more often.

11 years and counting on my P, I've forgotten what brand. I changed them 3 or 4 years ago for a couple of hours, didn't like it, put the old ones back on.

My main bass (G&L JB-2) has 5 or 6 year old Chromes.
Perfect for me.
Not changing them any time soon .

My Trusbass set is around 5 years now, I haven't played it everyday but have at least twice a week. The E doesn't seem to be holding tune too well any more though.

I've had my Roto rounds on my Ric on a little over 2 years...yeesh. I'm sure I'll be astounded when I put a new set on.

The rounds on my Epiphone were about 7-8 years old before I changed them last year.

My Hagstrom Frankenbass (2 Gibson Mudbuckers + 1 hag pup) has the same set of rounds since the 70's. I don't know what they are and I am afraid to change them because the sound is so amazing.

My LaBella Flats on my P are 2 years old and just getting broken in. Elixirs last about a year for me, and other rounds about 3-6 months.

i have a set of old fender flats that's gone 12 years. they're currently off all of my basses, though. i decided that while i liek the sound of dead flats, i don't like them to be TOTALLY dead-ass dead.

My first pair of strings, EBMM rounds, stayed on for two years before I decided I really didn't like the way they sounded. Imagine that. I didn't know any better. That was around when I discovered TB, and because of TB, I bought TI flats. I don't plan to change them any time soon. Or ever.

I had TI Power Bass on my Lakland BG for 4.5 Years. Istill keep them for a back-up set. I hate the sound of new strings.

Had a set of Boomers for 10 years before one snapped.

Spirocores on my old DB were probably between 15 and 20 when I sold the bass

I have a four year old set of TI-flats, on my fretless P-bass.
They sound great.

I remember when I used to change strings every week, and occasionally every other week.
Once I started playing double bass I realize I could use the same strings for a very long time. I have some Tomastiks on one of my uprights for at least 8 years now.
Then I got into the Elixirs for electric bass, and I have a set on my Yamaha 6 string bass for 2 and a half years now!!! all my other basses are also strung with Elixirs and they are between a year and a half to two years old.
I will try to keep them as long as I can! :-)
