Whats your most defined sounding string type?

Beyond the "tone is in your fingers" truth, and you've gotten that down.........Whats Your most tight, sharply defined, attack sounding string type/brand. What gives you that staccato definition? Is it round...flat....hybrid...crossover...coated?

Tell me....I wanna know.

Sounds like you are describing stainless round wounds to me. DR High Beams will get you there.

stainless rounds like Hi-Beams are good for that, but I can't stand the finger noise and clackiness. Nickel rounds, like D'addario EXL's are a good compromise for me.

I'm not looking for staccato definition, as you put it, or staccato anything. I look for the right balance of crispness and roundness to suit the bass. For the past couple of years EB Slinkies have been my favored string more often than not, but no one string works for all my basses.

Stainless Steel rounds for sure. I like the D"Addario Pro Steels, VERY bright.
