Where to buy LaBella's for a good price?

Sign in to disble this ad
Some time ago, someone mentioned an online shop that was selling strings, and the price they were selling LaBella flats was very low, much less than juststrings, etc...

I have lost the bookmark to this shop, and couldn't find the thread in which I saw that.... Can someone help?

Thx...

If it's the Jamerson set you're looking for, Elderly Instruments has the lowest price by far, at $26.50. I don't know what they charge for shipping or anything, but that's the price they have listed.

...or buy Carvin Strings, made by LaBella, just as good IMO, and _substantially_ cheaper.

Are the carvin's as smooth as the labellas (flats)?

For some reason, La Bella strings vary more widely in price between retailers than any other brand. Juststrings is not competitive.

Yep, that's the place. (Merci mon ami!)

They don't have the gauge I was looking for (Std 45-105), maybe they're just out of it? but their price is by far the lowest I've seen so far...

Thx to everybody for helping.

To be fair, I have not played the Carvin flats. The Nickel rounds are my go-to string, though. I just cannot ignore the value at 12.99 and 15.99 a set for 5/6 string.

Yeah, I know i mentioned that store about a month ago, though I got the info from a fellow TB'er. I ordered a set of 760FL's for 25 + 7 shipping... still saved 7 or 8 bucks over any other store and the guys at imperial were a breeze to deal with. Recommended!

www.carvin.com they sell LaBella nylon tapes cheaper than anyone else, but that's the only LaBella they sell and only in 4 and 5 string sets. I don't know about their flats being the same as LaBella, they may be manufactured by LaBella but they are really inexpensive. I had a set of their metal flats on my fretless 6 and they were OK, but I didn't like them much, and replaced them with a set of LaBella nylon tapes which I like a lot better.

Think about how much effort it takes LaBella (which isn't an enormous manufacturing operation) to re-fit all of its equipment with new materials and finishing specs just so do a private label run for someone else. My guess is that it costs less for them to just package their own strings, more or less as they are, in the Carvin packaging. I've found the only difference between the Carvin nickels and the comparable LaBellas (slappers, I think) to be the price. Maybe the color of the silking. The value is improssible to ignore!

They appear to have free shipping this month, which makes it even better. They have added a mysterious "handling and processing charge" of 10.99 per order, which is about the same as their normal shipping charge per item, but I think you only pay it one time per order, whereas their normal shipping charge applies to every item on the list. So if you buy a few sets of strings and maybe a stand or something (good prices on those too), you are ahead.
