and maybe he's looking for the brand of the strings he's using right now, thought of that?

My LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass (760FL) flats have red thread wraps. They are long scale and as mentioned before I ordered them from Just Strings.

indeed i have good sir, i just tossed in my two cents there at the end. maybe he actually agrees and realizes that i didn't intend it to offend, but rather just for it to be a situational tidbit of advice

First thing that came to mind for me was Rotosounds. I have used and an always liked them - they used to go dead a little faster than some other strings - but that can be a good thing too.

Most of the bass strings that I've seen with any kind of fabric at the top ends have red fabric, except for GHS flatwounds. But I don't see why it makes a difference...

TI Jazz Flats have red wraps ... they're on my fretless Precision, as per the avatar.

I got some of that look loose, Roundwound but by unknown maker.

Decent 'work' quality would do.

If there are some Groundwound and Flatwound options too, that would be great.

Heard about Taper, how do they feel?
Probably will use them on a fretless.

the stock strings on my epiphone gothic thunderbird IV had red wraps, no idea what they were though.
