Who can ID these flatwounds?

Hey folks, would like to know what these strings are. This is the first used bass I ever bought where I didn't want to change the strings right away. They are very plain, no silk, no taper at the peg end. The windings at the ball end are kinda sloppy. When I took them off to clean them they felt like wet noodles but when tuned to pitch they are moderately stiff. They are fairly bright and have a lot of bloom and sustain for flats. Wouldn't mind trying a set on another bass if I can find out what they are.

Slap any other flats on it and it'll sound 95% the same. :/

lol, and mostly true.

I'm pretty sure Webstrings flats have no silk on either end, and those are the only ones I know of.

I agree those are webstring Detroit steels. Very underrated strings and very inexpensive. The smoothest flats I've come across.

Here is how they look on my EAB Beater:

+1 on the camera ... great clarity ...

... as not to appear to be a total hi-jack ... Do the the Webstring flats have that 'stepdown' at the tuner end?

The photographer has a lot to do with it. It's an Olympus 1200, decent camera but not an SLR or anything that sophisticated. Put it in super-micro mode, good light, keep 'er steady, take several shots and pick the clearest one, that's all there is to it.

Webstrings huh? Thanks I'll check them out.

Send a piece of one of the strings to that blonde bimbo on CSI Miami. She'll feed it into some gizmo or other and in about 30 seconds you'll have the brand, guage, year of manufacture (possibly even an accurate date and time), address of the factory where they were made, along with the name, address, phone number and photograph of the guy that strung up the bass.
