I recently switched from 45-105 to 40-100 and I love thin strings. I don't notice any negative effect on the tone.
BTW, I recently discovered Stuart Zender and was listening to early Jamiroquai songs this morning. Blown away by his tone, I did research on his equipment. He used 35-90 on his Warwick!
