Question Who Uses/Has Used D'Addario ProSteels?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone here currently using these strings or has used them?
I've used them in the past and quite liked them. They are a smooth soft stainless similar to Hi-Beams/FatBeams. They aren't as stiff as other steel strings and from these factors,
I imagine they wouldn't be as rough on the frets like some other steels. They are flexible and have this gummy quality about them. Im thinking of putting these on my Squire VM P-Bass
when I get it. What does everyone else think of these strings?
They do chime very long!

I have them on 2 different basses, lots and lots of bite, very aggressive. I like their sound more than their feel.

Definately just tried a set, and I thought they were great! Great tone, accentuates the natural highs of my Ibanez and brings out its best qualities tonally. As for the feel? Something to get used to from plain nickels, but worth it IMO

I was in on the beta testing, and they were great. Pretty much lasted forever. I've bought a few sets since then, and they are not the same string. I guess they lasted too long, and got dialed down a bit . Still, they have a place in my arsenal when I need a bright sound. Great strings.

I have currently on my MTD Beast. They sound better than DR's for that particular bass.

me too and I agree.... They are my #2 choice for stainless rounds these days. I like the LaBella Hard Rockin Steels a little better.

It's been a while since I've played a set of ProSteels, but I remember them being somewhat less harsh-feeling than the Rotosound 66's that are on my SX P-bass right now. Great tone, held up for a long, long time... but they left some sick chew-mark looking things in my tuning posts since there's no silk.

Do you use the LaBellas on all of your basses? I find that each bass needs it's own set of strings. When I had EMG's in my P, it was Boomers. Now that I have a Fralin, it's Highbeams. A good friend locally, and random TB'er, has Pro Steels on his Ibanez 5'er, and Black Beauties on his fretless.

I love them... They are relatively inexpensive, come in a myriad of sizes and lengths... I love the way they sound and feel, and they last very long... No complaints here... Their .145 Tapered Superlong String is nothing short of amazing for A0 tuning...

I dig D'Addario strings in general and have tried a lot brands of strings over the years. I use their ProSteels on my Sadowsky M5 and it sounds great.
