Question Who uses steel strings and has not had fret wear?

I know two bass players that use steel and they never had fret wear problems.
Anyone else experience this?

No problem's here. At the most, a simple fret redress every few years is all you need. I've been playing SS rounds for 25 years, and have played a few basses strung with SS rounds on over 300 gigs a year for 2-3 years at a time with no problem.

That being said, the DR SS rounds seem to result in absolutely no fretwear whatsoever that I can see.

it's all in the hands

fretted and fretless, I almost alway use SS rounds. 26 years and I've never had an issue.

As a young player I was taught to practice WITHOUT my thumb touching the neck. The result is I use very little downward force in fretting notes. That could be the reason.
