Who wants my money?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey! I just spent $40 on 2 packs of strings (Ernie Ball and Daddario) and turns out they are too short! So much for "long" scale, right? (35" scale here) Who else wants to take my money?

Or better yet, how do I tell if my strings will be long enough?

i believe 35" takes extra-long scale size strings, and i'll take your money

I can't find any that are specifically "extra long". I found 1 pack that says "up to 37 - 3/4" " but that's only 1 brand, and I'd like to try 2 at least.

You'll have to go Super Long.
There's a bass company that makes that "fanned fretboard" that has like a 36/7 length, there web site had good refs for long strings. I did a search on this forum and found it, do a search for super long stings or something.

35" scale is long scale, not extra long. 36-37" is extra-long. Amirite?

i thought it went like this:

30" and below = short scale
32" = medium scale
34" = long scale
35"-39" = extra long scale (or apparently super long scale)
40" scale = where'd you get that bass?

I have never had this happen and I'm a 5 string junkie- long scale should be fine. If youa re buying DR's you don't even need long scale, just the regular length they make.

I only play 35' scale basses and I need extra long scale strings. I got a free pack of long scales once, and they didn't fit.

5 strings isn't the problem. It's that I have a 35" scale and "long" means 34 inches.

I bought some of those D'Addarios and some Ken Smiths (apparently 38" scale...)

The regular D'addario 170xl will not fit my Schecter elite "35 scale strung through bridge or my G&L L1505 "34 scale strung through body. Must have super long D'addarios.
The regular DR's wiil fit.
