Who's got flats on an active bass?

I've got flats on my precision, and rounds on my Leduc (an active bass with a jazz-like neck). I've recently been considering putting flats on the Leduc as well, but would that make my precision redundant? The flats/passive rounds/active solution seems like the perfect two bass combo.

But damn flats are nice....

Anyone out there have flats on an active bass?

Yes.

I have flats (TI jazz flats) on my '73 P-bass and several active fivers; despite using the same strings, nothing else sounds like my passive P-bass.

I use d'Addario flats on my Ibanez GSR200EX. As neck pick-up produces an undefined sound, I only use the bridge pick-up.

I have TI Jazz Flats on my Cirrus and love it. It lets me add that old school thump I was missing.

Flats on a Carvin LB70 and just put Chromes on my Carvin SB4000. They both sound great, and I have the advantage of onboard tone controls. There's no reason not to put flats on an active bass, IMO.

I've TI Jazz flats on a Conklin GT-5. The sound is nothing like a pbass. Kind sounds like a... Conklin.

I had rotosound flats on my Fender Urge, sounded great, but they were a little two heavy, so now there on my Fender P! I've put some really light round strings on the urge now!

Two of my three active basses have Sadowsky flats on them. Both are PJs with Sadowsky pre-amps. Play like butta and sound great!

I have D'Addario Chromes on my MMSR5. Used to have TI Flats, but didn't like the loose tension. Tried EB Regular Slinkys, RotoSounds, etc......but always returned to the Chromes.

When I tried the TI Flats it was because Carol Kaye told me they were the best around....even though she doesn't like 5 strings..."Church bass players like them, I guess." Then when she kicked me off her forum for getting into that James Jamerson thing with her, (I'm a native Detroiter), I ripped off my TI Flats in protest of her obsession with them and put on EB Slinkys. I really never liked the tension of the TIs anyway. But, I never really liked the feel of round wounds....so I went back to my old standbys...D'Addario Chromes. And that's what I've stuck with since then.

Bernadette!!! That... is... funny!

Chromes are my weakness as well. TIs are tempting me, though. Never tried them..

Schecter Custom 4 w/ Labella Deep Talkin' FS760. It really sounds great, altho one misses some definition. If anything, the strings prevented me from turning the lows all the way up.

I love TI flats on my EBMM Big Al. Helps the old school tone when in passive, but still bright enough for me when active.

I use TI flats on my Mike Lull jazz 5er, which has Seymour Duncan single coils and a Bartolini preamp. Those strings and that bass are made for each other, IMHO.
