Why bronze for ABG's when tapewounds are so awesome?

I finally replaced the stock bronze strings in my Ibanez ABG. I've been a long time fan of tapes on electrics, and they're even more awesome in the acoustic. Why are ABG's "supposed" to use bronze strings? I've always hated them. To me the tone is nothing special and they make more finger noise than anything else. I know tapes on acoustics are really popular, but I wonder why anyone would prefer bronze, and why higher end acoustics come with them stock.

I have had tapes on my abg when it had frets, but after pulling those babies out i actually tried out with a set of bronze and i really dig the sound. Didn't expect it, but they sing really well on the fretless fingerboard.
