A few months ago I bought a 79 fender precision bass. I feel it’s time to change the string that a certificated fender services install before a bough it. Does anyone know the brand and the model of the strings shown in the picture?

The main characteristic is thy have a cyan color at the end and at the top and bottom of each string.

Just use what ever string you like. You don't need a "certificated fender service" to change the strings.

Those are probably Fender strings.

Those are Flatwound, right? I would say Rotosound steve Harris, but those are red at the Bridge side of the strings.

They use blue on the swing bass set now? They used to use red silk.

Roto is always red I believe, although I may be wrong.

Check out Dean Markley's. A set just like the ones you show came on my 84 Precision, so they may be Fenders.

Yeah, you definitely do not need to worry about a Fender Certificated set of strings. Just pick what you like. In general terms, I would go with Ernie Ball Super Slinky or D'Addario. Although I myself am not a fan of D'Addario. I just don't see the effect for the cost, you know?

The cost? If you are implying D'Addario are expensive, buy a twin pack!

You can get TWO sets of XLs for $22.80. That's $11.40 a set. That's cheap! EBs are about $14, so for $3 more you get an extra set.

For one thing they are the extra long length (instead of the regular long 34")if the silk is all the way up on the peg like in the picture.

I had a set of Fender nickels once strung on my bass. They did have light blue silks.

That's why I said Fender strings in the beginning. I've seen those. I think some GHS strings have light blue silk too... maybe the Super Steels? Been a while since I used GHS.
