in my country there only 3 good bass string brands(daddario, ernie ball and fender)
of those 3 wich will last longer? be brighter? and feel better?
BTW the fender are the superbass 45-105 i think
the ernieballs i think are the nickel 45-105
and the daddario are nickel 45-100 |

I'm leaning towards the D'adarrios, since i've played them before and they are pretty nice. |

My favorite is DR High Beams & I buy my strings at juststrings.com - getting 5 or 6 sets should take the bite out of shipping individual sets & keep you in strings for a long while. Hail to the home of Piscos!

| | | I voted Fender. Haven't played the Ernie Ball bass strings, but I like the Fenders better than the D'addario's. Just my opinion of course!! |

I USUALLY buy from EBAY 'powersellers' that have good feedback & ship internationally. I found its FAR CHEAPER to buy 2 sets like this-including postage-than to buy from my local shop & -more importantly- there's a FAR greater range! I like D'addario then Fender , then EB-of the ones U mention. BUT PLEASE USE EBAY-cheaper & GREAT RANGE U CAN get DR's, Labella, All sorts & most sellers state ON THE ADVERT if & how much to send to you in your area/country!

| | floppy b strings | | Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Bronx, NY | | D'Addario's are my favorite strings, they work great all around (can sound bright, can sound soft and mellow), and they last a long time. I've had the same strings on my 5 string since the summer and I've gigged them several times and done tons of practices and show no sign of giving up

Hm, let's see
That's a nobrainer: Thomastik Infeld flats and Fodera roundwounds.
All available from http://www.juststrings.com
I never go out for strings any more.
Like a real prince I'll have them delivered.

To me, what string brand I use doesn't matter that much. I want a pretty high tension and a smooth feel, and especially if I use roundwounds, I want a long life. I used elixirs for several years exclusively, simply because of their feel and life length. They lasted many many many times longer than a regular set. They sounded ok to me as well... I think I've never paid less for strings per year than I did when using elixirs. Now I'm in a flatwound period.
I really hate strings that feel like sand paper (example: warwick) and die quickly. Then I never liked the light Dean Markley set I once bought. That one I didn't like mainly because of the sound. It was crap to my ears....
Oh, and I didn't vote in the poll. I think you should decide what you want yourself, plus I haven't got too much experience of those ones you mentioned.

I've been using the Lakland .45-.128 (the E is .105) for years, I believe they are about the same thing as LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels. Pretty sure they're made by LaBella, too.
