The question is in the title

I know the BTBs are 36"...and SRs are 34" (I believe)...but I wasn't sure what lenghts long scale will support.

You know WRONG!
BTB's are "35. Standard longscales work on BTB's (even if the taper starts before the nut on the .105, and over the nut on the .135, surprisingly enough their standard longscale-strings work with no issue for me), and have zero problems working on Soundgear-basses.

damn! an Inch off!

Thanks...just wanted to make sure...I'm trying to replace the stock strings I had on my SR506...I think they were Elixirs...had them for 2 years and they're started to get out of tune a lot during play. Time for a change.

I was given a set of D'Addario EPS160 prosteels long scale. Went to string them up on my 35" scale ESP and the E had the taper in the nut. It's not going to clear the nut even after tuning up.
That's not a good way to string a bass. I believe the actual STRING needs to be in the nut, not a taper. Funny thing is that all the other strings began their taper after the nut. Why not the E as well?

Yeah, I was kind of surprised as well. But the deal is - are you experiencing any issues with it? Warbling, buzzing, tuningstability or the likes? I'm not.
Fact is, surprisingly enough, that the E-string (or D, as it were) seems to have a (slightly) more open, harmonically rich and resonant sound quality to it, than the other strings. I believe this could be because of the string starting to taper before the nut, acting the same way a traditionally taperwound string works - except the taper is at the nut, rather than at the bridge.
Again, I wouldn't recommend it per-se, but I'm not having any issues whatsoever, and I like it, as is!
