Will "Long Scale" fit a 35" neck?

You'll have to forgive me for this newb. question, but I humbly ask, Will a "long scale" set of strings fit a 35" scale neck or do I have to get an "extra long set"?

Thanks! and sorry about this...

Edit: NOT going through the body.

It depends on the string manufacturer, and whether or not you use string through the body. DR's will cover 35" scale fine, but D'Addarrio's require extra long scale with a 34" strung through the body.

Negative.

You need Extra Longs, ESPECIALLY if you're going D'Addario. DR is all good on 35". Some strings can't through the body as they don't offer options that long, such as Dean Markley Blue Steels.

Just put some Ernie Ball Slinkies on my Lakland 55-94 through the bridge. They BARELY make it, but they do work....and sound great!

Yeah, Boomers will JUST make 35" in Standard Long length in a standard P-Bass bridge. (Not Through the Body) About 3/8" to spare! I couldn't find Extra Long in their Heavy gauge, 115 - 50. Great for tuning down below D!

EB Slinkys will work also. This assumes that you have a standard bridge and no string through or extra string length required at the bridge.

i got a set for my modulus Q5 and the silk just clears the nut. get a set of what you think you want and lay the string from the bridge to the nut. don't have to take the old string off. it'll give you a good idea if the string will fit. if it won't, wrap it up and take it back.

D'Addario's will work if you've got a "35 toploader. I've got standard longscales on. The E-string tapers a little bit before the nut, but I am experiencing zero issues. (Not a subjective thing - I have no issues. No warbling, unstable tunings or buzzing)

TI Jazz Long fit on my 35" scale Peavy, but only
if you load on the bridge and not thru the body.
