Will putting a set of strings back on change the tone?

I purchased a roscoe Lg-3005 about 6 months ago.I love the bass in every way but have yet to find the right strings. Right now i'm using Bootzillas from DR for a brighter sound but i'm about to try nickels from D' addario. The bootzillas are about 2 months old and aren't quite dead yet. The question is, if i take them off but decide to put them back on later, will the restretching change the tone or how long the strings will last?

Nah. You're good man. I boil and re-use all my strings with little problems. In fact, its convenient to have a set of strings already peg-wrapped in case you break one on stage.
