Wiping after playing?

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right section, but what kind of cloth or fabric would I use to wipe the strings and body after playing?

The finish on my bass is just oil so I'm not sure what to use without damaging it.

Thanks !

Micro fiber or a polish cloth with no polish.... New preferred.

Or cut up a soft white undershirt.

I also use an old soft cotton shirt or sock to wipe my bass and strings.

Since I switched to nickels I rarely wipe the strings and it makes no difference. But a lot depends on your body chemistry. Some people's sweat just seems to rot strings, some has no effect at all. Diet, hygiene and genetics each play a role.

i got a raft (12 pack) of micro-fiber clothes at home depot real cheap...if it can clean my glasses with out scratching...it will work on the bass.

I use whatever gets thrown onstage.

Silk panties work best..

Those cotton boxer/briefs work well too, but I try to use the leg only...

Bras don't work at all..

Just don't use more than two squares. It's bad for the environment!

I've used the duster + WD40 thing a few times...didn't really make much difference IMO but then again I like dead strings

I've been scared s***less on stage a few times, but never had to wipe as a result.

I keep a white hankerchief in every case for wiping strings..Fits easily anywhere in the case and works well for the strings. I don't use it for the finish though...I wipe down the body at home with old t shirts that I've cut the printing off of, and use some Stew Mac guitar polish.

Wow! I got a variety of responses! ! I guess I'm going with a microfibre or an equivalent quality of cloth!

Thanks!
