Wut??? Well, aside from using "wut" when you should use "what," your question is too vague. Got no idea what...er...wut...you consider "smooth." Besides, smoothness comes from the player, and you can use any type string to get it.

Roll the tone knob off. Or wipe down the strings with a baby wipe a few times. Smooth as a baby's bottom... No seriously... it works... I've done it before when I needed flatwounds for a gig, but couldn't get any at the local store.

Thomastik Infeld jazz flats... They sound great on a jazz bass... They're a little expensive, but they're worth. They also last forever.
