XL170s or Ernie Ball Super slinky's?

I'm just getting a set of strings and these will be the first ones I've ever bought..The Super SLinkys are a few bucks cheaper but which is the better string? Everyone claims to be "the best" so it's hard for me to tell. I want a bright/mellow beatles/the who ish sound.

I've tried the XLs and the EBs and found very little difference between them. Go for the Slinky's if they cost less.
