I use D'Addario XL's on my 35" 5-string and have had no problem with string length.

Any type of DR should fit a 35" scale.

I have D'Addario Slowounds on my Kingston and they fit nicely, even if the silk wrappings come bit over the nut. I hear no difference in sound, tho.

GHS Bass Boomers XL

I don't know why people don't like GHS. I've always had good luck with them ... they seem to keep their tone pretty well.
