Anyone know what brand and gauge strings come on a stock Yamaha BB414? I searched and there was speculation that they're Rotosound Swing 66s, but it wasn't definitive.

Yamaha uses their own brand of strings. .045-.105 stainless steel. I have no idea who makes them, but that is what is on there.

They do feel like Rotosounds, and a little like D'addario Pro Steels, imo.

I've heard that the Yamaha string sets you can buy off the shelf sound outstanding.....I'd like to give them a try, but never can find anyone that stocks them........much less in a 5 string set that I need. Any ideas?

I would assume that these are the same string sets that ship on the bass from the factory.

Any authorized Yamaha dealer can order you a set. The question is how much it will cost/how long it will take to arrive. My guess is too long, too expensive.

The 5 string sets are stainless .045-.125s.
